THE AIRFOIL EFFECT

Inspiration is a funny thing—one part knowledge, one part awareness of a problem, then a divine bolt of inspiration unites both to form a solution.

The most fearful thing that can happen while flying is stalling, which is the wing that is giving lift losing the ability to generate lift, otherwise known as crashing. With airfoiling stalling will not be a concern, giving you all the pleasures of flight without the danger of stalling. Depending on your skill level as an airfoiler, you will be able to do things unimaginable before airfoiling was created. Imagine what skiers and snowboarders are able to accomplish with a half pipe, now imagine that pipe is now three-quarters of a pipe to even a full pipe if the conditions are right and you are really good at riding your airfoil, and instead of hundreds of feet the pipe is now thousands of feet long.

As in skiing where there is freestyle and slalom, airfoiling will have Freestyle and GE Airfoiling, with GE standing for Ground Effect. With Freestyle Airfoiling the airfoiler will be suspended high above the ground and will need a larger airfoil than with GE Airfoiling. GE Airfoiling the airfoiler will be skimming only a foot or two off the ground, and the airfoil will be smaller than the one used for Freestyle Airfoiling because of the added lift created by ground effect. The first airfoil runs will most likely be Freestyle Airfoiling runs because this type of airfoiling will be easier to implement, but GE Airfoiling will best mimic skiing and snowboarding, so the long-range goal is to have most airfoiling runs be adapted to be GE Airfoiling runs.
